Mekko Market Spring Menu

HI FOODIES!👋🏻 SPRING MENU TIME AT @mekkomarket_adelaide AND CHEF GUILLAUME DID NOT DISAPPOINT!

Personally I love that Mekko have stuck with their roots and have three Scandy dishes on the new menu. All, of course have a chef Gui twist! 😁

Let me start with my personal fave Finnish Salmon Soup, The depth of flavour. 😱 Creamy, yet light and fresh, yes fresh! Gui, you nailed that stock!

Now in no particular order, Swedish Pytt I Panna which is a potato, sausage and bacon hash. The addition of wilted spinach added the needed freshness and the fried egg with soft yolk adds another textural component. I’ve had a hash elsewhere and what they all have in common is, too salty. Gui always has this innate ability to pull back when needed. 👏🏻

I’ve had Prawn Skagen before and it is the best! Once again, fresh and creamy! I love the ying and yang when it comes to Scandy food. The ability to be rich in flavours yet light when consumed. The pop of salmon roe, the salty, warm yolk enveloping your taste buds, give me shivers! 😱

Lastly, the Lemon Buttermilk Pancakes with almond sauce, fresh fruit, raspberry coulis, orange and vanilla bean marscapone. Once again, Gui pulls back, allowing the  lemon buttermilk pancakes to shine, the accompanying ingredients included are there to push the flavours of the pancakes forward. I see this dish as ‘healthy pancakes.’ I’m there for it all!

Oh oh oh!!! I almost forgot! Fresh juice! For all of my fresh juice loving people, Mekko has got your back. I had ginger orange and apple with no pulp…thank goodness. Going back for breakfast cocktail…it’s a thing, right?

Guillaume, you never disappoint me. I get excited whenever I know you have a new menu. Thank you for inviting me Irene, you’re the best and I love coming in to see you. ❤
